Talkstandards.com is an online community where developers, researchers, policymakers and other interested parties can share and discuss global IT standards and ideas. This forum focuses on development and interoperability standards, intellectual property and innovation, as well as the role of government and regulation. The site is designed and built on the WordPress CMS platform. To increase the site’s traffic and visibility, a viral marketing plan began with social media research to identify key movers of ideas, current hot topics, and “conversations sentiment” in the blogosphere. With our target conversation hubs, topics and players identified, content could be developed and pushed back to the Web where it would indirectly promote the Talkstandards blog.

Conferences organized by Talkstandards complemented the blogging plan. They also yielded content (e.g. video clips, podcasts, photos) that was re-packaged as Web features to enhance the online conversation.

The site was revamped and streamlined in late 2009.
