I confess, I can’t stand award shows — which explains in part why I never chased after them much. Others were more driven than I to fill out the submission forms, but I did get some and yes, I admit, it did feel good when the team or I received one.

In the end, a job well done, a “thank you” from a client, or a “nicely done” from colleagues gives me more satisfaction. Verbal commendations and letters of recommendation are personal, somehow they feel more genuine and less self-congratulatory. Awards catch dust.
